Do I Need to Include my Shipping Income in My Gross Receipts When Paying Sales Tax Collected?

Submitting sales tax collected is difficult enough without the added confusion of what is or isn't included in your Gross Receipts and Sales. We are not tax professionals so we encourage you to contact an accountant for more clarity, but here is the gist. Regardless of which state you live in, Shipping Income should be included in your Gross Receipts and Sales. But since every state is different, we highly suggest contacting a tax professional for more clarity.

You can also refer to the following state websites for more information regarding submitting sales tax and whether or not your state requires you to include your shipping income in your gross receipts and sales:

Alabama Illinois Minnesota North Carolina Vermont
Arizona Indiana Mississippi North Dakota Virginia
Arkansas Iowa Missouri Ohio Washington
California Kansas Montana Oklahoma West Virginia
Colorado Kentucky Nebraska Oregon Wisconsin
Connecticut Louisiana Nevada Rhode Island Wyoming
Florida Maine New Hampshire South Carolina
Georgia Maryland New Jersey South Dakota
Hawaii Massachusetts New Mexico Tennessee
Idaho Michigan New York Texas

NOTE: If your state does not show up on this list, it is because we were unable to find any information regarding this topic at your state's website. This does not necessarily mean that you are not required to collect sales tax. So we highly suggest contacting a tax professional for more information.
